Shoppers Stop Beauty Arm Brings INTERPARFUMS Portfolio to India

Global SS Beauty Brands Limited (GSSBB), the beauty arm of Shoppers Stop, has partnered with INTERPARFUMS SA to expand its prestige fragrance portfolio in India.
Under the exclusive partnership, GSSBB will distribute, develop and build INTERPARFUMS’ portfolio of international fragrance brands in the Indian market. The collaboration adds another major global fragrance portfolio to India’s expanding luxury beauty landscape.
According to Indian Retailer’s report on the INTERPARFUMS partnership, the alliance is designed to strengthen the presence of internationally recognized fragrance brands in India.
What Happened?
GSSBB has entered into an exclusive strategic partnership with INTERPARFUMS SA for India. The arrangement covers distribution, market development and brand building across the portfolio.
INTERPARFUMS has operated in the global fragrance industry since 1982. Its portfolio includes names such as Coach, Montblanc, Jimmy Choo, Lacoste, Rochas, Lanvin, Karl Lagerfeld and Van Cleef & Arpels.
The partnership gives GSSBB access to a broader range of international fragrance brands while allowing INTERPARFUMS to work with a company already active in India’s premium beauty market.
A Wider Prestige Fragrance Portfolio

The partnership is significant because INTERPARFUMS brings multiple established fragrance houses under one portfolio.
For Indian consumers, this creates greater access to international prestige fragrances across different brand identities and price points. It also complements the wider growth of the Beauty & Personal Care market, where fragrance is becoming an increasingly important part of premium beauty discovery.
The portfolio spans both established luxury names and brands with strong recognition among younger consumers. This gives GSSBB opportunities to develop different consumer segments rather than relying on a single fragrance proposition.
GSSBB Expands Its Luxury Beauty Role

GSSBB already operates across premium and luxury beauty categories. Its portfolio includes fragrance, skincare and makeup brands, supported by specialty stores, Shoppers Stop locations and other retail channels.
The company has also been expanding its presence across the luxury beauty segment. ETRetail’s earlier report on GSSBB’s luxury beauty strategy highlighted the company’s plans to scale its portfolio and develop an omnichannel presence.
The INTERPARFUMS partnership therefore fits into a larger strategy. GSSBB can combine its existing market knowledge with INTERPARFUMS’ international brand portfolio.
Why Fragrance Matters in India

India’s premium beauty market is becoming more diverse. Consumers are increasingly exploring fragrances alongside skincare, makeup and other beauty categories.
This is creating room for both global and Indian fragrance brands. At the same time, digital discovery is making it easier for consumers to research unfamiliar brands and explore different scent profiles.
Fortune India’s coverage of the partnership notes that INTERPARFUMS and GSSBB are combining international fragrance expertise with local understanding of India’s luxury beauty market.
For retailers, this creates an opportunity to move beyond simply selling fragrance. Brand storytelling, sampling, consumer education and experiential retail can all influence how customers discover prestige scents.
From Distribution to Brand Building
The partnership is also broader than a conventional distribution agreement.
GSSBB will be responsible for market development and brand building, giving it a role in shaping how INTERPARFUMS’ brands are introduced to Indian consumers.
That approach can be particularly important for premium fragrance. Consumers often need to understand a brand’s heritage, scent profile and positioning before making a purchase.
According to Franchise India’s coverage of the partnership, the two companies will combine INTERPARFUMS’ global portfolio with GSSBB’s market insights and consumer understanding.
What This Means for Beauty & D2C
The partnership highlights the increasing premiumisation of India’s beauty market.
For international fragrance brands, India offers an opportunity to reach consumers through established local retail infrastructure. For Indian beauty businesses, the expanding global portfolio also raises the competitive bar around branding, packaging, product experience and consumer engagement.
D2C fragrance brands can respond by developing sharper identities and stronger storytelling. They can also use digital channels to educate consumers about notes, formats and fragrance occasions.
The Road Ahead
GSSBB’s partnership with INTERPARFUMS gives both companies a platform to expand prestige fragrance in India.
The immediate focus will be on distribution, market development and brand building. Over time, the partnership could also broaden the number of international fragrance houses available to Indian consumers.
As premium beauty continues to develop, fragrance is likely to remain an important category within the wider luxury beauty ecosystem.
