House of Rare Targets Rs 1,600 Crore Revenue

House of Rare is targeting around Rs 1,600 crore in revenue this fiscal year. The fashion group reported about Rs 1,100 crore in revenue last fiscal. It now plans to accelerate store expansion and expand into new fashion categories.

The company currently operates around 210 stores across its four brands. It plans to reach at least 285 stores by the end of this fiscal. Another 50 stores are planned for the following financial year.

House of Rare is expanding beyond its established apparel categories. Its portfolio includes Rare Rabbit, Rareism, Rare Ones and Rare’Z. The group has also entered luggage through a licensing arrangement.

According toETRetail’s report, fragrances are expected to launch next month. Women’s handbags, open footwear, ballerinas, heels, belts and jewellery are also planned. The company is also scaling Inerv, its men’s innerwear business.

The company has seen a 50% increase in its customer base this year. Its repeat customer rate remains around 40%. These figures form part of the company’s broader growth strategy.

Rare Rabbit Still Leads the Business

Rare Rabbit continues to account for most of House of Rare’s revenue. It contributes around 70 – 72% of overall revenue. Rareism contributes about 20%, while Rares and Rare Ones contribute around 8 – 9%.

However, the company expects women’s fashion to become a larger revenue contributor. Rareism is expanding its product portfolio and store presence. The company expects its women’s business to reach around 30% of revenue over time.

Indian Retailer’s coverage of the expansion also highlights the company’s broader multi-brand strategy. The portfolio now spans menswear, womenswear, kidswear and footwear. This gives House of Rare several category-level growth opportunities.

More Categories Under One Retail Network

More Categories Under One Retail Network

House of Rare plans to use its existing retail infrastructure for women’s categories. The company wants these products to operate through the same women’s brand. This can allow new categories to use existing stores and digital channels.

The strategy also keeps individual categories within clear brand identities. The company has created separate identities for categories such as sneakers. It says this helps prevent newer categories from losing visibility.

The approach gives House of Rare a broader product portfolio. It also reduces the need to create completely separate retail networks. The company can therefore build new categories around existing customer relationships.

Store Network Moves Beyond 300

Store Network Moves Beyond 300

House of Rare currently has more than 1,100 points of sale. Around 97% of its stores are company-owned and company-operated. Its stores average around 1,100 to 1,200 square feet.

The company plans to add another 50 stores next fiscal. This would take its overall store network well beyond 300 outlets. Store expansion remains one of the key drivers behind its revenue target.

The company is also looking beyond major metropolitan markets. Metros and tier-one cities currently generate around 60–65% of revenue. Tier-two and tier-three markets account for the remaining share.

Smaller Cities Become a Growth Focus

House of Rare is increasingly looking at tier-two and tier-three markets. These markets offer additional opportunities as the company expands its physical network. The strategy also supports its broader push beyond major fashion centres.

South India currently contributes around 40% of business. West India contributes approximately 25%, while North India remains a growth market. East India also remains a significant market for the company.

Franchise India’s fashion retail coverage has also tracked House of Rare’s recent retail expansion. The company has been increasing its presence through larger stores and multiple brand formats. This supports its broader physical retail strategy.

Omnichannel Retail Supports Growth

House of Rare is also becoming increasingly omnichannel. Offline channels currently contribute around 60% of revenue. Online channels account for approximately 40%.

The company has more than 1,100 points of sale across its retail network. Its existing stores and websites can support the expansion into new categories. This gives the group multiple channels for reaching existing and new customers.

The House of Rare’s official website describes the group as a contemporary lifestyle house. Its portfolio includes Rare Rabbit, Rareism, Rare Ones and RareZ. The company positions these brands as distinct identities within the wider House.

What This Means for Fashion & D2C

What This Means for Fashion & D2C

House of Rare’s strategy highlights the role of category expansion in fashion retail. New categories can increase the number of products available to existing customers. They can also create new reasons for customers to engage with the brand.

However, broader assortments can increase inventory and operational complexity. Brands must manage more products across more categories and locations. They also need to maintain clear positioning for each product line.

For D2C brands, the strategy offers another expansion model. Existing customers and retail infrastructure can support new categories. The challenge is maintaining brand clarity while the portfolio becomes larger.

Profitability Remains Important

House of Rare expects its EBITDA margin to reach around 14% this fiscal. That compares with approximately 10–11% during the previous year. Rare Rabbit has been profitable for several years, while Rareism has been profitable for two years.

Rares and Rare Ones have recently reached the break-even stage. The company therefore has brands at different stages of development. Managing those differences will become increasingly important during the next expansion phase.

The Road Ahead

The Road Ahead

House of Rare’s next phase combines stores, categories and geographic expansion. The company wants to increase revenue while building a broader fashion and lifestyle portfolio. Its Rs 1,600 crore target depends on these growth initiatives working together.

The company’s official brand information highlights its focus on womenswear, menswear and kidswear. Its expanding portfolio now extends further into footwear and lifestyle categories. This supports the company’s ambition to build a wider fashion ecosystem.

The next stage will test how effectively House of Rare can scale its portfolio. Store expansion will remain important, but category performance will also matter. Its omnichannel model will connect these initiatives across online and offline channels.

About House of Rare

House of Rare is the parent company behind Rare Rabbit, Rareism, Rare Ones and RareZ. The group has expanded from apparel into kidswear, footwear and other lifestyle categories. It also operates a licensed luggage business.

The company’s current strategy focuses on category expansion and retail growth. Its latest plans aim to build a broader fashion portfolio across India. The Rs 1,600 crore revenue target marks the next stage of that expansion.
