Mumbai-based beauty, lifestyle and body care brand MoroMaa has raised ₹1.5 crore from AJVC. The investment comes only months after the brand launched in India.
Founded by Soundous Moufakir, MoroMaa is building what it calls “M Beauty”, or Moroccan beauty, as a distinct category in India. The brand uses ingredients sourced directly from Morocco and combines them with traditional beauty rituals.
According to ETEntrepreneur, the company will use the capital to expand its product portfolio, strengthen distribution and increase awareness among Indian consumers.
What Happened?

MoroMaa has secured ₹1.5 crore from Aviral Bhatnagar’s AJVC in exchange for a 9% equity stake. The funding arrives within the brand’s first few months of operations.
MoroMaa launched in June 2026 with a focus on bringing Moroccan beauty traditions to Indian consumers. Its proposition combines Moroccan ingredients, beauty rituals and cultural storytelling with products developed for the Indian market.
According to IndiaRetailing, two MoroMaa products had already sold out during its first two months. The new capital will support product expansion, distribution and wider market development.
Building “M Beauty” as a Category
MoroMaa is not positioning itself only as another skincare or body-care label. Instead, it wants to introduce Moroccan beauty as a recognizable category within India’s expanding beauty market.
The brand draws on Soundous Moufakir’s personal connection with Morocco and its beauty traditions. This includes the use of Moroccan ingredients and rituals while adapting products for Indian consumers.
This positioning gives MoroMaa a clear cultural identity. It also creates an opportunity to educate consumers about ingredients and routines that may be less familiar in the Indian market.
For consumers exploring the wider Beauty & Personal Care segment, this category-led approach reflects how emerging brands are increasingly using cultural stories to differentiate their propositions.
Product Expansion Takes Priority

The fresh funding will support MoroMaa’s next phase of product development. The company plans to broaden its portfolio while continuing to focus on Moroccan ingredients and beauty practices.
Product expansion could also help the startup move beyond early adopters. A wider range of products can create more entry points for consumers and encourage customers to explore different parts of a beauty routine.
This will be important as MoroMaa works to build a broader presence in India’s Skincare and personal-care market.
The company will also need to maintain consistency in product quality and brand positioning as its range grows.
Distribution Becomes a Key Growth Lever

Alongside product development, MoroMaa plans to strengthen its distribution network.
For a young consumer brand, distribution can determine how quickly initial interest converts into wider adoption. Expanding availability will allow MoroMaa to reach consumers beyond its early customer base.
The company also plans to invest in consumer awareness around Moroccan beauty. This could be particularly important for a category that depends on explaining unfamiliar ingredients, rituals and cultural context.
As reported by FounderVox, MoroMaa intends to use its funding across product development, distribution and category awareness.
What This Means for Beauty & D2C
MoroMaa’s funding highlights the growing opportunity for niche beauty concepts in India.
D2C beauty brands are increasingly building identities around specific ingredients, cultures, consumer needs and product rituals. This allows smaller companies to create differentiated propositions instead of competing only on product breadth.
MoroMaa’s approach combines this trend with international cultural positioning. Its Moroccan focus could help the brand create a distinct identity while appealing to consumers interested in new beauty traditions.
For the wider Premium Beauty market, the development also reflects growing consumer interest in specialized and story-led beauty propositions.
The Road Ahead
MoroMaa is still at an early stage, having launched only in June 2026. Its immediate priorities are expanding products, strengthening distribution and building awareness.
The reported early sell-outs provide an initial indication of consumer interest. The next challenge will be converting that early traction into repeat purchases and sustained growth.
The ₹1.5 crore investment gives MoroMaa capital to develop its proposition while attempting to establish “M Beauty” as a recognizable category in India.
